What we collect

Your name, Stern email, and the profile details you choose to share (work background, interests, neighborhoods, availability, an optional photo and LinkedIn URL). Optionally, a phone number if you want text notifications.

How it's used

Only to run Sidebar: matching you with classmates for coffee chats, showing your card to people you match with, and sending you notifications about your own matches. We never sell or share your data with third parties for marketing.

Text messages

If you save a phone number, we text you only about your coffee chats: match alerts, scheduling updates, and a reminder before a confirmed meeting. Your number is never visible to other users. Clear the field in your profile or reply STOP to any text to opt out (reply HELP for help). Message frequency varies with your activity; message and data rates may apply.

We do not share, sell, or provide your mobile phone number or messaging consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with, or sold to, any third parties.

Ice-breakers

We use an AI service (Anthropic) to help write the ice-breakers and "why you two" blurb on a match card, from the same profile details your match already sees — never your email, phone number, or notes. That data isn't used to train AI models.

What others see

Classmates you match with see your profile card (name, work background, interests) and your email for coordination. Private notes you write are visible only to you. Nobody outside Stern can sign in.

Questions or deletion

You can permanently delete your account and data yourself, any time, from the bottom of your Profile page. Questions? Email hello@sidebar.mba.
